Ian Rawn
Working with LaunchAbility Ian has progressed from getting a job to having a career.
Ian Rawn and LaunchAbility have been a team for more than five years. LaunchAbility helped Ian when he worked in customer service at Ikea. His job was loading and unloading items in and out of customer’s cars. He worked there for more than three years.
Ian’s family and James “Stick” Alexander, his LaunchAbility employment consultant, felt he could do more. When Ian was hired at Venturity, his parents requested that LaunchAbility was there to help with the transition and additional training. At this point Ian was working part-time at both places and when Venturity offered him full-time employment, Ian was in a position to choose his future. He chose Venturity. Today he is a document coordinator – he oversees the mail, scans invoices, makes labels and folders for filing. He has been there for two years. Although Ian has become very independent and runs with every task they give him, James still works with Ian and his employer to make sure both of their needs are being met.
“Ian has matured incredibly over the past few years, he has grown and he is much more content in this new role that is really putting his skills to work,” said James. “He is working hard to meet his goal of getting his own apartment one day. He bought his furniture when he worked at Ikea, bringing him one step closer.”
Through LaunchAbility, Ian has gained confidence in his ability to support himself. He is saving his money, so one day he can have his own apartment.
